Prorec is a B Corp since dec 2024. An ongoing process is now in place to continue improving our sustainability journey with the collaboration of our partners, suppliers, customers and employees.
Giving a second life
to Earth’s bounty
According to estimates, approximately 40% of the food produced in North America ends up in landfills.
Until we find a way to reduce or eliminate food waste, our mission is to upcycle food waste by giving it a second life.
B Corp : more than a certification
The B Corp Certification is a way of seeing the world—and leading for good.
We are working to make a positive impact on people. The environment. And the culture of business.
We are joining hands—and forces—to build an economy that benefits all people and the planet we share.
We are raising our standards—and then raising them again.
B Corp certification does not mean our business is perfect or that it has achieved the highest impact. It means that Prorec is part of a worldwide community of businesses working collectively to change our economic system and that in order to stay engaged, we adhere to increasingly demanding social and environmental performance standards.
Thanks to the collaboration of our business partners and employees but also to our circular business model and our best practices in governance and environment as well as our impact on our community and collaborators, Prorec was able to make its entrance into the B Corp worldwide movement.
Food is precious and must remain in the food chain whenever possible.
Prorec offers source reduction and reuse solutions. Inspired by the EPA hierarchy, Prorec helps you reduce waste at the source and ensures that recovered materials remain within the food chain through animal feed whenever possible. When this option is not feasible, unusable waste can now be used to produce energy and assist in processing agricultural organic matter through an anaerobic digestion (biomethanization) process.
A team that has
a positive impact
In 2024, the equivalent of more than 91,000 tons of grain (DM) were replaced by Prorec products, representing over 9,300 hectares of avoided monoculture farmland. Prorec recovers nearly 100,000 tons of food residues that would otherwise end up in landfills. By replacing a portion of the corn used in animal feed with alternatives developed by Prorec, farms avoided the equivalent of more than 45,000 tons of CO₂e in 2024.

As part of its environmental and circularity efforts, Prorec has achieved the Performance level of the ICI on recycle! program.
Recognizing that sustainability also includes a strong social dimension, several initiatives have been implemented to improve employee well-being and fulfillment, ensure equity, diversity, and inclusion, and generate positive impacts within the community. Three main initiatives have been developed for this purpose, including:
- a volunteer program with community organizations;
- scholarships to support the next generation of farmers;
- financial support for selected organizations, including Hop la rentrée, Enfant Soleil, and Moisson Maskoutaine.
In addition, Prorec’s commitment is to facilitate transformational change within the sectors in which it operates in order to make a meaningful difference. To this end, Prorec is actively involved in several industry associations and organizations, including AQINAC, CRE Montérégie, CETEQ, Réseau Environnement, and CTAQ.
